Sterkwater has been successfully marketing fruit to various international markets by using the world’s best exporters as well as several other independent export companies.
Large volumes of fruit is exported via Cape Town harbour to the following countries: UK, Far East, Middle East, Russia, Switzerland and Africa. Selected fruit varieties carefully packed and shipped to the above mentioned countries from as early as January up to August every year.
Although the business mainly focusses on exporting fruit, it also provides several local inland markets, including Municipal markets, and several well-known supermarket chains throughout South Africa with high quality fruit and vegetables. With our CA rooms, fruit can be kept at peak condition and supplied to these markets throughout the entire year.
The cold chain is never interrupted to assure the best quality product. We are using the latest technology in our force cooling tunnels to bring the internal fruit temperature down as quick as 48 hours to -0.5ºC.
The packing facility houses modern fruit sizers. These facilities are HACCP and BRC accredited. Sterkwater Boerdery uses a modern product management tracing system the renowned VITRAX to ensure traceability and accountability at all times.
